Texas College Cup results - Week 1

The first week of the Fall 2015 Texas College Cup did not go exactly as planned with one match cancelled for weather and two matches forfeited, but it was a valiant effort to get Texas College Rugby kicked off early in the Fall.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders really put the spurs to the University of Dallas in a 50-14 rout. However, UD's bagpiper apparently won the Man of The Match with a rousing performance!

Baylor traveled to Killeen to face a beleaguered Texas A&M-CT Warriors. This was a played forfeit because TAMUCT did not have enough players to field a full squad. But players need playing time and Baylor had some extras tagging along who could fill the boot. Baylor drove on to a 63-10 win. the Bears' new Head Coach, Mason Hering, had nothing but praise for the new club in Killeen, though. He was very impressed with their tenacity and never-say-die attitude.

SFA axed that Comets of UT-Dallas in Richardson on Friday night with a 19-12 win.

with one of their freshmen, Dash Chavez from Cy-Fair Rugby, scoring a try in the 19-12 win. (Correction: Dash plays for St Louis University, not SFA. Apologies for the mistake.)

Finally, the Houston Cougars have rarely traveled well, but they made amends this weekend with a 29-14 win over the Roadrunners of UTSA. Can they perform similarly in Austin next week?

Out of Conference Matches

Oklahoma traveled to Knoxville, TN to mirror their football team in a match against the Vols. The Volunteers emerged victorious 23-10. This was OU's first hit-out this year with a completely different team from the one that proved powerful last Fall.

The Texas St Renegades tromped over to Gretna, LA to face the LSU Tigers on NOLA RFC's home pitch. LSU proved the better team on the day with a 43-20 win, but the 2nd XV match was a draw at 17-all.
