St Edward's rugger called up to Saudi Arabia's 7s NT

Fawaz Alfageeh & SEU Backs Coach Steve Cochran
Fawaz Madani Alfageeh, a winger for St Edward's Rugby Club, spent the past summer trying out for his home nation's rugby team. Fawaz is a subject of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and when he was not selected, he returned to Austin to resume school. But the rugby gods are fickle. The young winger was on the bubble enough that when another Saudi 7s player was injured, he got the call-up to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, Korea this month!

The sophomore rugger is attending St Edward's on a full academic scholarship. When Fawaz came to St Edward's, he was a 7s player with little XVs experience. However, by the end of the 2014 Spring season, Fawaz was asking enough questions of the starting speedsters to get a starter's nod from Coach Ferguson. St Edward's University is expected to issue a press release tomorrow congratulating their esteemed student on his selection.
